Why? Why wear a saree if all you want is skin show? If there is one thing I have been dying to put out in the open is the badly draped sarees and pallus that our celebrities impose on us.
Exhibit A: Shriya Saran at the Toronto International Film Festival
What was that? She has carefully pinned the pallu to one side…….rather than let the pally cover her ‘assets’ as it is normally wont to do. Want more proof?
Exhibit B: Celina at Lakme India Fashion Week
Cheap net saree? Check. Skanky bra-blouse? Check. Cheap, cheap, cheap makeup? Check! All in all a big insult to the very understated saree.
If this doesn’t kill you, what will?
PS: This was just in the past one week. There are celebrities a dime a dozen who make me see red day in and day out. Somebody please help them!

heheh I totally agree with you…in fact this reminds me of Mallika Sherawat & her dresses at Cannes….what she was wearing in the name of lehnga wud put everyone to shame!!!
That one was a big insult. Imagine showing up in a lehenga(or whatever that is) with a slit as high as the upper thigh and no dupatta..and blouse like a bra!!!!! I just died!

Seriously these females would be better wearing short skirts or any other dress if skin show is all they care about. Rather than disgracing this graceful apparel, they should stay away from it at all. And yeah I remember what Mallika wore at Cannes. And all I could think was “What was she thinking?”
And then my husband commented:”She WAS thinkign, that’s why she wore this. Skin show and cash the Indian culture card, two shots in one !!”

Someone who looks like a million bucks in a sari – Rekha. She wears those traditional kanjeevaram saris and jewelery with such style.
She is always covered but sends a strong message!

Oh yes I agree I hate these… passing bikni as a saree blouse… or if my mistake they wear a blouse one boob hanging out of the pallu… eeks
They HAVE to do one of the two…sometimes both!
Although these two are looking bad, it’s because the wearer is not looking good in them, bad cut and style etc… some of these bikini blouses look nice. I guess it’s how one wears them, and caries them off… sari is versatile enough to look very traditional, or very western.

there are some instances when a bikini or halter top style blouse do look good, but it depends how it is styled too! these are styled atrocioulsy! sheesh!
