….during the past 10 days of monster snow storms is that there is only so much fun you can have being holed up at home and unable to go out. That is not to say that I have had absolutely no fun. No, we did start on a cheerful note, admiring the falling snow from the comfort of home. We read books(more on that later), had endless cups of chai, pakodas, bhutta and other junk. Only to realize that there is only so much bhajjis and pakodas you can eat. After a while the snow gets to you.
You head out to see vast expanses of fluffy virgin white and face cold blasts of air that hit you at your most vulnerable spot(the ears…hehe) but you still plod on, and take pictures and are pleased with this ‘winter wonderland’. (Trust me, walking at night after a round of fresh snow has fallen is like walking into heaven), but the next morning reality hits you like a slab of ice on the face. You will have to layer up, get out in the cold, and clean your cars so that they are ready to be driven to work the next day. And you want to accomplish all that before it gets dark, err, before 4:00pm! What is the big deal with cleaning off some snow off the car you say…er…..if only you saw how it looks like outside:
Yes yes that means you have to wade into knee deep snow to get to the car first. And when you are done cleaning the car, you need to shovel all that snow on the ground so that you can actually get the car out of that spot! So we had fun doing that to two cars, not once but twice in one week. Bhagwan jab deta hain chappar phad ke deta hain, after all. And we got chappar phad ke snow. We tried to enjoy, but there is only so much enjoyment for us warmth lovers. But, for now, here are a few sights:
PS: Hitchy, your tag coming up!

I cant imagine that much snow. Now,that much snow and you still dont get a snow day at work ??? Hehehe We in Mississippi declare university closed and snow day if we get 2 inches of snow
and that happens once a year
Oh we did have snow day, snow days infact, that is why we were holed up at home. We had to clean the cars in order to finally get out and go to work after days and days of working from home!
I can totally relate to how you feel. Been there, done that. Now I don’t miss it one bit
Stay warm and hopefully it will warm up soon
Yeah now I want to to get warmer. But then I shouldn’t wish for it being too warm or we will have a blistering summer!
Oh nice pics Shilpa. It does look beautiful, and out of the world, na? As long as you dont go out
You should change to your cherry blossoms header. So we can look fwd to those days.
You know they mentioned something about the cherry blossoms not being as good this year thanks to the cold weather?
Luckily, it looks like you don’t have shovel a driveway after that. Here in Canada, we do it almost all days in winter…
Yeah thankfully no driveway to be shoveled.
With you on that !! I am sick and tired of all the snow now. Enough of it. Lets fast forward to the summers now.
But I am not wishing for a long summer, you know wishes can backfire?
What wonderful photographs !!!! seriously looks like a fairytale land… ! sigh… guess we who havent had to clean the snow can never stop wanting that sort of snow here… !
the vulnerable WHAT !!!!!!!
lol… !
Yeah don’t ask for something that hangs around your head like an albatross!
that is a LOT of snow!!! liked the last two pics.. is that ur house? its really pretty, red bricks and all ..:)
No it is not, it is our leasing office
In the beginning, Snow used to fascinate me. But now all I can think of is, will they grit the roads? How will brat go to school? Provisions…rations.. blah blah
Nice pics though
Hehehe. I don’t like the slush and dirt all the snow turns into in a few days!
Snow always fascinates..has since I have been a kid (like most kids I guess!) so can never understand the troubles that come with it:)
nice pics:)
That is still a heaven Shilpa, for some one like me staying in Mumbai where temperatures are constantly upwards of 25 (or 30?) degree celcius even in the winters. Add to that the humidity! Ufff…
Is that NJ?
woops..photo dekh ke hi thand lag ri hai..i don like winters..especially delhi ones..and itna snow..i will die for sure
Right now I am going to say that I HATE winters too. Bring on the Indian heat!
